The 5 B's for 2026


In 2026, our neighborhood’s priorities center on helping one another, improving safety and lighting, celebrating our shared stories, and building stronger connections through better communication and events with food. These goals reflect what neighbors said matters most: trust, connection, safety, and pride in our community. Here are our top priorities based on input/votes from our neighborhood strategic planning 2025 community meeting:

Launch a Neighbor Repair and Resource Program

Idea: Build volunteer teams and a neighborhood skills directory

Idea: Host a neighborhood "Repair Day" to assist neighbors in need and/or a clean up day

Improve Neighborhood Safety, Lighting and Traffic Calming

Idea: Conduct a lighting audit and share results with Duke Energy

Idea: Partner with local police to increase patrol visibility and address concerns

Share Our Stories and History

Idea: Create a Neighbor Stories Project through photos, oral histories, or newsletters.

Idea: Feature storytelling at neighborhood events throughout the year.

Build Connection through Food and Events

Idea: Plan community events with food, food pickups, and an annual neighborhood festival.

Idea: Include nutrition education and inclusive food-sharing opportunities.

Strengthen Communication and Coordination

Idea: Launch an opt-in communication and simple directory.

Idea: Use it for event reminders, safety alerts, and project updates.
